What we collect, and why.

Analytics (traffic and usability)

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic — which pages get read, roughly how many people visit, and where they arrive from. We use Microsoft Clarity to understand usability through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay, including clicks, scrolling, page layout, and navigation. Clarity masks text entered in form fields, and every form on the site is additionally marked so Clarity masks the whole form; we do not send the contents of forms to Clarity.

Advertising storage is denied for both services everywhere. In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, analytics storage defaults to denied until you opt in. In that state, analytics cookies are not set and activity is not connected across visits, although the services may receive limited cookieless measurements. Elsewhere, analytics storage is enabled by default and you can decline at any time using the “Privacy choices” link in the footer. Declining stops Clarity’s session recording immediately, and Clarity is not loaded at all on later visits.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honor browser opt-out signals. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or a Do Not Track signal, Microsoft Clarity (including session replay) is not loaded and Google Analytics runs with analytics storage denied, in every region, unless you later opt in through the “Privacy choices” link.

What our forms store

Our forms write to our database, and only when you submit them:

• Report a sale / register a robot — the model, an optional serial or unit ID, the sale price, condition and date, any notes, and an optional email so we can follow up.
• Valumech for business — your name, email, company, and what you’re asking about.
• Contact — your message and a reply email.

We read these ourselves to verify contributions, answer questions, and improve our estimates. Contributed sale data is only ever shown anonymized and aggregated — never attributed to you — as covered in the Terms. We never sell any of it.

Who processes your data

We keep the moving parts few and name them plainly:

• Google Analytics — traffic measurement.
• Microsoft Clarity — usability metrics, heatmaps, and session replay. Microsoft explains how it processes information in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
• Vercel — hosting and standard server logs.
• Neon — the Postgres database that stores form submissions.

When email alerts are enabled, Resend processes confirmation and update emails. We store your address, selected model or digest, confirmation state, and delivery records. You must confirm before receiving updates; every update email provides an unsubscribe link. Short-lived hashed identifiers limit signup abuse; we do not store your IP address in the alert database.

How long we keep it

Google Analytics data follows its configured retention settings. Microsoft Clarity currently retains ordinary session playback for 30 days and aggregated click/heatmap data and labeled or favorited sessions for up to nine months. Form submissions stay until we’ve processed what you sent or you ask us to delete them — whichever comes first.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete any data you’ve sent us. Use the contact form and pick the reason “privacy request.” You can also decline analytics through the consent banner at any time. We don’t require an account to read the site, so there’s nothing to log in to and no password to lose.

Children

Valumech is a general-audience reference site and is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information through a form, use the contact form and we will delete it.

What we never do

No advertising. No selling or renting your data. No cross-site tracking profiles. The only outbound commercial links on the site are clearly-marked affiliate links, disclosed in full on our affiliate disclosure.
