WebMCP browser tools

In browsers that support the experimental WebMCP API, Valumech registers five structured, read-only tools from the current page. They let a user-directed agent work with the catalog without guessing at interface controls or scraping visual text.

• search_robot_catalog finds models by words, category, status, or maximum approximate USD price.
• get_robot_price returns sourced price, configuration, availability, and evidence details.
• compare_robots compares two catalog models and returns the relevant comparison page.
• estimate_used_value runs the same clearly labeled illustrative model used on Valumech.
• get_purchase_options returns dated official and affiliate links without opening them.

These tools do not accept personal or payment data and never navigate, request a quote, add to cart, order, or pay. An agent must obtain the user’s confirmation before any external action.

Remote MCP server

The same five tools are served over the Model Context Protocol at https://valumech.com/mcp(Streamable HTTP, stateless, no authentication, read-only). Any MCP client can connect directly; a discovery document lives at /.well-known/mcp.json.

Tool results carry their evidence dates (verifiedAt, checkedAt, fxDate) and native currencies as fields, and modeled used values carry an explicit warning. Canonical page URLs double as MCP resources: resources/read on https://valumech.com/models/unitree-g1 returns the same Markdown as the .md alternate. Input errors come back as tool results with isError and a recovery hint rather than protocol errors, so a model can correct and retry.

Markdown from canonical URLs

Supported pages return concise Markdown when a requester explicitly sends Accept: text/markdown. The URL stays canonical; Vary: Accept keeps the HTML and Markdown cache variants separate.

Coverage includes the home page, directories, category hubs, model and manufacturer profiles, rankings, comparisons, the buying guide, and the methodology. Unsupported pages continue to return their normal HTML representation. The same representations are available at explicit.md alternates, such as /models/unitree-g1.md, for clients that do not send an Accept header.

One factual source of truth

Markdown is generated from the same typed catalog modules as the visual site. It is not a hidden second database and does not contain agent-only claims. Prices remain in their official native currencies, missing information stays missing, sources remain attached, and modeled used values remain explicitly labeled.

Agent interaction contract

• Public catalog, discovery, and WebMCP tools are read-only. The internal WebMCP POST bridge performs no mutation.
• Preserve evidence dates, native currencies, uncertainty labels, and source links.
• Never turn a missing price, specification, stock state, or valuation into an assumed fact.
• Valumech is a research directory, not a seller or checkout. Manufacturer and retailer links cross into independent third-party services.
• Obtain the user’s confirmation before sending contact information, requesting a quote, ordering, or making a payment on an external service.
• Cite the canonical human-facing page rather than an internal representation URL.
